At Hamilton Zoo.

It was a sunny morning, as we walked through the entrance into the Zoo. I saw a lot of schools.
We all had to split up in groups that Mrs Thompson put us in. I had to go with Mrs Draper, Brogen, Madeline and Jahnyva.
First, my group looked at the native birds. As I walked in, there were was a cage that had birds in.The native birds had brown feathers, and strong wings. They were staring at us like we were going to do something bad to them.
Next, we went to see the White Rhinos. They had dry scaly skin and dirty backs. They were walking really slowly like they were tired. Their enclosure was so big and full with dirt.
“Look at the Rhinos!” I shouted.
We then went to see the furry Red Pandas. They had red bushy tails, with black fur at the ends. They were curled up, in a ball fast asleep. They were not moving so we started to move on.
Finally, we went through the cafe and into the education classroom. As I walked in, there was a zoo keeper named Matt.

When everyone sat down Matt talked about a tiger having her babies, and animals moving to the Auckland Zoo and also a chimp that got sad and broke the outside window.
Matt also talked about animals living many years ago.
After Matt had finished talking, we all had a chance to look around. There were bones, cracked eggs, stoats and dead animals.
I hope we can go to the Zoo again.

Narrative

It was a sunny afternoon. Zack, who was 10 years old, went to Sunny Side Zoo with his parents. They were having lunch at the park near the tough gorillas.
‘’Can I see the gorillas ?’’ asked Zack.
‘’Okay,’’ said Mum. ‘’But be quick. We're going soon after I have packed our lunch.’’
Zack walked happily to the gorillas. As he crossed the wooden bridge, Zack was so excited to see their black angry faces. “WOW!” he said happily.
As he leaned closer, Zack fell off the bridge.
When the gorilla looked up Zack was so scared.
He yelled, ‘’Mum! Dad! Help!"
When his parents heard the frightened sound, Zack’s mum was really worried. They went to see what had happened.
The gorillas had crawled closer. They were growling seriously, and Zack was nearly attacked by their knuckle claws.
Zack’s mum was yelling for a zoo keeper. “Help! My son is in the gorillas' enclosure.”
When the zookeeper came, he asked, “What happened?”
“My son! He’s down there with the gorillas,” Mum said.
As the zoo keeper walked down with food, Zack was so glad that he had gone down to help him get away from those angry black gorillas.
“Thank you,” said Zack, gratefully.
As they walked back on the bridge, Zack hugged his parents and thanked the zoo keeper, then they headed home.

Guy Fawkes.

On a cold night, my family and I were going to buy fireworks.
After we bought the fireworks, my mum and dad were thinking about doing ours at my aunt and uncle's place.                                 As I climbed in the van, with the fireworks, I felt excited and anxious at the same time. When we arrived, I jumped out of the van. I heard a BOOM and a CRACK.
When I opened the door, I saw my aunt and my uncle.                       My cousin said to me, ''Did you bring fireworks?''
I said, "Yes."                                                                                       I hugged my aunt and uncle.                                                               When I looked in their kitchen, I saw their fireworks on the bench.   We headed outside. We lit our fireworks. We started with the big explosions. They went BOOM! CRACK! It was amazing.

At The Beach

It was a sunny warm Saturday afternoon, at the beach.
I was so excited to jump over the sparkling waves.
The water glistened. It looked like thousands of sapphires. The sand was really hot.
The beach was really amazing. I could relax there forever.
After I jumped over the waves, I went to dig a deep hole. When the shimmering water came into the wet sandy hole, the water was rushing in.
When I had finished having a swim, I lay on the sand to keep me warm.
It was a fun day at the beach.

Long Distance Race

It was a windy Friday morning. I was ready to race. I was jumping up and down. I was so excited. It was time to race. I was getting ready. Mr K was holding a racing gun.
It went BOOM!. I went as fast as I could. The wind was dashing through me.
I was on my second lap. I was halfway through the whole field. Brogen ran right in front of me. I tried to dash right in front her.
When I was on my last lap, I heard a bell. It went DING! DING! When I crossed the finish line, I came in 5th place. I cheered for myself.

Pizza For Dinner

I think we should have Pizza once a week. One reason is that it is yummy and you don't have to cook. Its yummy because it has yummy pepperoni in the pizza and you don't have to make homemade pizza.Another reason is that the sauce is yummy. That we can have it for lunch or for leftover. My last reason is that you do less work. Its yum and that it has cheese, Sauce, Onion, and Pepperoni.

World of Math

tyarne.JPG
Today, at school, Room Four and the juniors walked into the hall for World of Maths.
Before we walked in the hall, teachers put numbers on our hands. My number was seven. The man who had brought the games was only explaining two maths games.
First we tried to find our teams. Once we’d found our teams, we chose a game to start with. I was team number seven.
The first maths game my team played was See Saw. First we put Mr Red on the see saw, then we put little light blocks to make Mr Red balance. If you put the blocks on roughly, Mr Red will fall.
After we’d finished the math game, we moved to another one. The game was How Tall. That was the hardest game. When Makayla and I were playing How Tall, some Room Ones were putting all the blocks in. When they were putting the blocks in, Makayla and I moved with our team.
The last math game our team played was the Secret Message one. Makayla and I were almost finished but we knew the answer. The answer was Safe Now Open. The man told us stop and sit down.
After that, we went back to class. It was fun.

El Grego

Last week, on Friday, our whole school walked into the hall to watch El Grego did the magic show.My favourite show was when Hunter Rose was holding small wands and big wands.
First of all, El Grego invited Hunter rose up to the stage. There was a brown wooden bucket with nothing in it. It was empty, then Sue gave Hunter Rose a small wand.
El Grego said to Hunter Rose, “Now, say the magic words, "It better work. It better work,’’ but, when Hunter Rose said the magic word, it didn’t work, then El Grego said, “What do we need? A bigger wand," then Sue gave Hunter Rose a medium wand. Hunter Rose said the magic word, "It better work. It better work.’’ El Grego said, “Now, let’s see if we can find the bird we are looking for.’’ but there was nothing. It was empty. El Grego said,"What do we need? A bigger wand.
When Sue gave Hunter Rose a bigger wand, she said the magic words. When Hunter Rose said the magic word, it didn’t work, so El Grego said, “What do we need? A bigger wand."
Sue helped Hunter Rose wave the enormous wand because it was too heavy. Hunter Rose said, “It better work. It better work!’’
El Grego looked in the bucket and pulled the bird out. The whole school said, “WOW!’’ It was amazing.

Easter Egg Hunt

Today it was Easter Sunday. We were so excited to find the yummy delicious chocolate Easter Eggs.
When we found all of them, one of them was missing. I found it outside in the green bush.
We had to have five each. I had six, so I had to give one of mine to an adult.
When we ate all of our Easter Eggs, we had a tummy ache, then we played on the Xbox. We played Halo. Aria, Jahnyva and I were bored so we watched Little Kids Saved the Day.
We watched it all day then Aria’s dad who took the movie out took it back to the DVD shop. We then walked into the sitting room. Our favourite movie was gone. Aria said, ‘’Where is the movie? We looked everywhere. When I looked under the wooden table, I found three Easter Eggs. I told Jahnyva and Aria to come to the table. We ate them quietly, then the boys came in the sitting room. We hid the colourful paper so that the boys couldn’t see it.
They just saw us watching Tintin. We had put it on just so they would not know we had those three yummy delicious smooth chocolate Easter Eggs. When they went back in the room, we started to pick another movie. When I stood on the carpet, it felt like a soft fluffy white radiant pillow. We watched the Lego movie. Aria said the the movie was boring so we walked quietly like grey mice. When we were at the door, we scared the boys with a big huge ROAR! We roared like a grumpy lion. They screamed loud like a big green angry dinosaur. I told them that we girls had Easter Eggs. After we told them that we had Easter Eggs, we ran back into the sitting room. We ran into the kitchen, grabbed the cold ice and ate it. We had a brain freeze because we ate too much ice. OUCH! that was the best Easter Sunday.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Waka Races

Today, we walked to the riverbank to watch the Regatta waka races.
When we got to the riverbank, we sat down to watch the races. The water was sparkling and the crowd on the other side of the river was shading under tent tops. Some crews were getting into the waka to go up-river for their races.

Harrigan’s crew was racing next. We cheered for them. We were shouting as loudly as we could. We shouted, "GO, ST PAUL'S! GO, ST PAULS!’’
I had a big smile on my face. They were going as fast as they could. When they were going past, we called out, "GO ST PAULS! GO ST PAULS!’’ We were shouting as loudly as we could to make them paddle faster and faster to the finish line. The boys in the waka were paddling in the waka so they would win the race and make it to the finish line. We won.

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day.We live a Live Simply Day so that we can stand in solidarity with the poor people in our world. To live simply means to go without anything that isn't needed for us to survive, such as technology, and electrical devices like a toaster, a car, a bike and a scooter. It means to go without sweet food. Our school ate rice for lunch.

My Shell

My shell comes from Matauri Bay. It is smooth and very white.
The shells are very beautiful and the colour of my shell is light brown with a bit of yellow on it.
On the shell, there are some bumps.
The shell smells like fish and it is precious.
It looks like it came from Australia. it might have been in the water.
In the ocean, you can find different shells. Some people on TV found shells with pearls in them.
When the ocean is shallow, you can go way out to the deep. Sometimes, you step on shells. You can find starfish in the sea.

Ash Wednesday

Honey Bees

What I found out: The bees get the nectar out of a flower and turn it into honey, then they put it into a hexagon. When the hexagon cells are full up, the beekeeper has this machine that takes out the honey. When it's done, they put it in a jar and take it to the shop. They sell it to people.
